Events Summary: 2023
3/11-18/23 Harvard Opportunes in Puerto Rico
Dear Members of the Harvard Club of Puerto Rico:
Good afternoon! This year, the Harvard Club of Puerto Rico continues its longstanding tradition of hosting some of Harvard's finest acapella groups -- next up, the Harvard Opportunes are back!
The Opportunes will be in Puerto Rico from March 11-18, 2023. As before, the group's leadership is reaching out to the HCPR membership for help with potential bookings and logistics (and asking you to reach out to them if you are able to assist). Here is a message directly from Rhys Moon, Assistant Tour Manager of the Harvard Opportunes:
Hello Members of the Harvard Club of Puerto Rico!
My name is Rhys Moon, and I'm the Assistant Tour Manager for Harvard College's oldest and boldest all-gender acapella group, the Harvard Opportunes.
I'm contacting you regarding booking for entertainment for our Spring Tour to Puerto Rico from March 11-18th, 2023. We would love to find opportunities in San Juan to perform for audiences of any kind. Having visited the club in 2017, we are excited to continue fostering our relationship and performing for Harvard alumni and more in Puerto Rico!
Since 2017, our group has added some impressive accolades to its list. We've placed 2nd in the 2022 International Championship of Collegiate Acapella, and 1st out of all Mixed-Gender Groups. I've linked our winning set including songs by Rihanna, Zedd, and Ben Platt, which also earned the international prize for Best Soloist, Best Arrangement, and Best Vocal Percussion. Moreover, we released an EP titled Lucid in November 2022 and available on all streaming platforms. I've also linked two songs from our performances in Sanders Theatre, amassing over 2.5 million views on Youtube: All For Us by Labrinth ft. Zendaya & Hard Place by H.E.R!
We are prepared to perform personalized sets for any occasion. Beyond the linked performances and recordings, we regularly perform our diverse repertoire including hits by Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Stevie Wonder for audiences around the world. We would love to curate a set for any events and would be thankful to be connected to any opportunities for entertainment during our tour, whether it be for private events or larger venues!
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. I look forward to hearing from members soon and would love to hop on a call if needed at (310)-321-8085.
Best,
Rhys Moon
Assistant Tour Manager

Good morning! We are pleased to invite you to the next chapter of the HCPR's Distinguished Speaker Series! On Thursday, May 4, 2023, we will welcome our next guest, Dr. Jamie M. Jacobs.
Dr. Jacobs serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School and is also the Director of Caregiver Research in the Massachusetts General Hospital's Cancer Outcomes Research Program. She has expertise developing and testing supportive, evidence-based, caregiver-directed, and patient-centered interventions in behavioral oncology, with a focus on study design, methodology, and implementation of randomized controlled trials. She is also the Co-Investigator for two funded randomized controlled trials to develop and test an evidence-based psychosocial intervention for managing symptoms of stress and burden in caregivers of patients with advanced cancer. Dr. Jacobs is a Lecturer at Harvard University, for which she instructs a seminar course in Psycho-Oncology.

11/2/23 Harvard Moves
Dear Members of the Harvard Club of Puerto Rico:
Good morning! We hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Please mark your calendars and save the dates for the following upcoming HCPR events:
Harvard Alumni Interviewers' Meeting: Thursday, October 19, 2023.
We will have an all-hands alumni interviewer meeting and reception on October 19, 2023 for all of our current Harvard College interviewers, as well as for any Harvard alumni who wishes to become an interviewer for Harvard College. Whether you have interviewed for decades or are just starting out, this meeting is for you! We will announce the event location in the coming days.
In the meantime, two reminders for all Harvard College interviewers:
First, remember that each year, all alumni who wish to interview prospective Harvard College applicants must fill out a conflict of interest form to confirm their eligibility to interview. Until you submit the conflict of interest form, we have no ability to assign any interviews to you.
To access the conflict of interest form, please go to the Harvard Alumni Interview Portal. Once you fill out the conflict of interest form, the system will automatically add you to the list of available interviewers, and we will be able to assign you a candidate (or candidates) for you to interview. Simple as that!
Second, remember that the Harvard Admissions Office recommends, whether you're interviewing for the first time or are a seasoned interviewer, that everyone attend one training session before interviewing this year. There are two kinds of training sessions available for alumni interviewers. You can sign up for one or more of them at the Harvard Alumni Interviewer Portal and pick the one that works best for you:
-
Harvard Interviewing 101: The Basics. Intended for the new, or relatively new, alumni interviewers.
-
Harvard Interviewing 102: A Refresher. Intended for experienced interviewers.
Be sure to join one of the upcoming training sessions, and stay tuned for more details on the upcoming interviewers' meeting on October 19!
